Secondly, I want to add one more benefit on that polarization point: debate. I feel like the best art is art that makes people talk and argue over interpretations and why the artist did what they did on all fronts (lyrical, technical, musical, etc).

It’s clear that Taylor Swift is one of those artists we’re going to view in the same light as Elton, Dolly, and more when she’s in her sixties/seventies.
