Hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, will die in a global pandemic.

Last month you would’ve thought that this was a cruel April Fool’s joke. Unfortunately, it’s not. The data shows that, as of this writing, almost one million people already have the coronavirus.

On a half glass full outlook though, we have the opportunity to change this. Projections, like rules, are meant to be broken.

But the fact of the matter is this: Everything in your life is on an indefinite hiatus. You are going to stay home for a long time. Whether it’d be a few months or even longer.

And, over that period of being home, our economy won’t be the same.

“In a rare peek at official thinking, James Bullard, president of the St. Louis Fed, told Bloomberg last week that the jobless rate could climb to 30% next quarter and that the economy could contract by 50%. That was not counting for the impact of hundreds of billions of dollars thrown at companies by Congress as support to hold on to their workers. But even so, private estimates after the legislation are similar — Goldman Sachs forecasts a 34% economic contraction and 13.2% unemployment in the second quarter, and Deutsche Bank 33% and 12%.” — Steve
