Interesting you say that. I’d argue that the design of the apps depends on the user’s preferences.

For me, I prefer an experience that imitates the vinyl listening experience more than say playlist or music discovery. In other words, I want my streaming app to pretend to be a vinyl or CD player. That’s exactly what Apple Music is — notice that when listening to a song or an album that are very few buttons upfront outside of backwards/forwards/play/pause.

Spotify, however, has a better experience if you’re into a socialized music experience. This means it’s better if you like sharing playlists with other people, discovering other people’s music, etc.

I’m excited to see the streaming battle between Apple and Spotify in Nigeria!
