Great article, Will. I’m a member of Clubhouse but rarely use it. In fact, the only social media platform I use on an almost-daily basis is Medium.

One thing I’m afraid of, as I pointed out in Rob Walker’s article, is that Clubhouse will only perpetuate our ongoing affair with platform’s use of FOMO on the population. These days it’s hard to find a platform like Medium where I can be on it only once or twice a day and get everything I need.

Clubhouse appears to be premised on the idea that its users will engage right away (re: FOMO) in let’s say a convo with Elon Musk, despite what the user was doing at that moment. The truth is that we need to get off our phones more and learn how to live in the moment.

My take on all of this is that another social media platform will not solve our problems. Being more introspective and reflective on our lives would though.
