As an American, I have seen Islamaphobia on a frequent basis and much of it is related to this article, the view on women in Islam. From my experience, I think the notion that women are not respected in Islam is a misplaced fallacy. It's misplaced because Americans tend to confuse the religion with the government. Yes, in countries like Saudi Arabia women weren't able to drive until recently. But that had nothing to do with Islam, it had all to do with the Saudi regime. Stop conflating religion and government, Westerners!
