As a relatively new guitar player, it can be easy to fall into the same rut. Old habits die hard. I find that my guitar playing is most fun and interesting when I try new stuff on the fly. The newest thing I’ve been doing, when I have time to do it, is to play very short twelve-bar blues and start the next progression on a chord in my key’s major scale. Most recently, I’ve been doing the triads (ex: if I’m starting in the G-major scale I’ll do the first progression in G then in B then in D and rinse and repeat).

Guitar kinda sucks when you’re doing the same thing over a over again.
