Anne, this is literally one of the best stories I've read about travel on Medium. Just wow.

I'm an American who lives in Barcelona when we're not in a pandemic. Although Barcelona is still a big city, to me the lifestyle is much more relaxed than America. Before Barcelona I had lived in a small town in the South of France, where it's definitely not hustlin' and bustlin'. It was difficult coming back to America where things were not as simple as there.
